Gift Ideas For Mother's Day

By Mellissa Rummage

Mother's Day comes but once a year, so make sure it is special and purchase something for Mom she is sure to enjoy. Your gift can be something traditional or whimsical, but whatever you choose, it should be something that truly expresses your love.

Most mothers are happy to receive a beautiful assortment of flowers on Mother's Day. Your online flower shop will have many options available for this special day, so you are sure to find something that suits Mom's style and your budget. Consider giving her a bouquet featuring her favorite kind of flower or perhaps her favorite colors. Adding a vase to your order is a thoughtful touch, as well.

Ordering a live plant is another fun option, and because they last so long, they are gifts that keeps on giving. You can select a mix of plants in a decorative planter, an assortment of violets or perhaps flowering plants, such as azaleas. You can also opt for something unique, such as a bamboo plant or bonsai tree.

Gift baskets are also a fun idea to think about. You can order a chocolate lover's basket, a gourmet picnic basket or perhaps a huge assortment of seasonal fruit. You can also select a basket full of biscuits, chocolates, gourmet teas and a little teapot. Whatever Mom loves, there is sure to be a basket that complements her taste.

Gifts that include photography are always a special treat. You can go online and create a personalized calendar filled with pictures of kids, grandchildren, pets, family, friends and other special memories. Another idea is to make a photo book where each child or grandchild writes a special message as well as featuring photos of these special people.

Another idea is to plan a gift around Mom's favorite hobbies or interest. For the person who loves cooking, fill a gift bag with gourmet ingredients, luxurious kitchen towels and high-quality utensils or cooking equipment. If she loves to sew, fill a basket with helpful sewing supplies.

In lieu of an actual gift, you can plan a day of events for Mother's Day. Start things off with a relaxing champagne breakfast then chauffer Mom to the spa where she will enjoy a manicure, pedicure and massage. From there, perhaps take her to her favorite sunset spot for a glass or wine and then enjoy a dinner at home or at her favorite restaurant.
