How To Pay For College Without Loans

By Maryanne Goff

College education is not very easy for two chief reasons. Firstly, it takes the form of more specialized studies, thereby increasing the level of difficulty for those taking the respective courses. And secondly, the fees for joining these courses can be pretty steep. There are many students for whom the latter is hardly a matter of concern, since they belong to affluent families. However, there are many others who need to take loans and complete their graduation. There are also those students who seek ways and means to pay for college without loans or any outside assistance.

Without paying for the course, the only way to academically get through college is by earning a scholarship. Now it is a known fact that scholarships are only obtained by the extremely hardworking or deserving. Anyone even slightly less deserving loses out the chance in this world full of competition.

Thus, earning a scholarship is not for everyone with poor financial backing. For those still keen to pursue further studies, there must be the knack to think of other possibilities to earn and not repay any loans either.

This leaves a huge gap for students between wishing to pursue their degree and lacking the adequate funds or family support to do so. While those not very sure about the path ahead may even drop out and start working. Nevertheless, there exists a large fraction of those scholars who would like to study, irrespective of financial support from family or not.

It can be agreed that not many would be diligent enough to pursue college despite the lack of funds. What is surprising is the number of students who do pursue their studies despite the financial crunch. If you are wondering how they manage it without any support, it might further surprise you to know that they work their way through it.

While the ways are many, to start with, a student can seek apprenticeship from one of their own professors. This may not always be a job that pays, and more often than not, all a student earns knowledge and experience.

Offering tutions after school is another option for college goers. With their own undergraduate knowledge, they are perhaps among the freshest minds to help young school children with their studies.

Other means of getting additional income or pocket money could be waiting tables at a local restaurant or bar, walking dogs for neighbours, washing window panes for home owners, cleaning cars for car owners and joining a store as a salesgirl or salesboy in the evening shifts. While many of these jobs may not afford an entire college education, they may very well lend experience and extra funds to the financially challenged.

Another arena that can well be explored is that of finding work over the Internet. If a student owns a personal computer, this task could not be easier. For those with blessed with the gift of words, content writing jobs can be sought online. If one has creative skills, website designers and developers are heavily in demand. Other such jobs include link building, social media account management and optimizing websites for search engines. Where there is a will, there is a way. This theory could not be proved any more strongly than in the case of students who pay for college without loans by working after college hours.
