What To Look For In A Piper Meridian Training School

By Minnie Whitley

You have just acquired your first Piper Meridian and you want to fly her right away. If you are an experienced pilot you probably could. If however you are pretty much a beginner or a novice pilot, you may need to get some Piper Meridian training.

Do not just rely on a simple internet search using Yahoo or Google search engines. Although this will put you in the right direction, it may still not be enough. A checklist will be much needed in this case to assist you in arriving at an informed decision. You should not underestimate the power of a simple checklist.

Experience is the best teacher as the saying goes, so use this adage as an item on your checklist. The faculty of the school or schools you have an eye on must have experienced instructors who have logged in at least seven thousand hours of flight time. They should also be Federal Aviation Administration licensed and approved. It goes without saying that these instructors must have a proven track record also and not new to the job.

Although your instructor will have the experience to share in teaching you, he or she must be adaptable. They should be able to adapt to your rate of absorbing new ideas, or learning new skills, and must be patient enough to start from scratch if need be. Their ability to refer to real life experiences as an added bonus to your teaching is also a good trait you should look out for. Not only should they be real life experiences that have happened, but specifically experiences that have happened to your particular instructor.

The right school to teach you how to fly your Piper Meridian is one that is specialized in this sort of thing. As this plane small and designed for private use, the school you are looking for must specialize in these smaller aircraft sizes. Likewise pilots must have the experience in handling small planes as they fly quite differently when compared to larger aircraft models. They should be quick to give you tricks of the trade so to speak in handling the particular quirks and peculiarities while in mid flight.

Upgrading and refresher courses, more commonly known as post training services, should be made available by your prospective school. These courses are needed to basically keep your reflexes and skills at a minimum acceptable par, as they can diminish over time especially if you do not fly frequently. These courses actually help you in keeping your skills and knowledge up to date. The courses on offer should also be able to meet your own busy schedule and must be as flexible as possible.

Choose a school or training outfit or school that operates out of several airports in the region, as compared to one that only flies out of one or two. This is so that you can be afforded many different environments to fly and train in. This diversity can only be for your good in the long run.

When choosing a flight school, many other factors exist apart from the ones covered in this article. As such as with any other decision as major as this, you should always practice due diligence and cover all bases and perspectives so as to arrive at a complete and informed decision.
